They became experts at undercover operations to ridicule and undermine the regime. They organised rebellions and issued mass communications to inform and educate people. They were called \"Las Mariposas\" (\"The Butterflies\"). They became deeply loved national and international heroes. This design celebrates three of the four gorgeous sisters who were tragically and brutally assassinated in 1960; Patria, Minerva, Mar\u00eda Teresa - their other sister Dede lived on until 2014. The sisters have become global symbols of feminist and social resistance - they paid the ultimate price for freedom and making a stand but their memory lives on and they are celebrated each year on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - which was inspired by them.
